Cinefx : Jahshaka Reinvented

Posted by admin On February - 10 - 2009

We are pleased to announce that the jahshaka project has been reinvented as Cinefx and is getting back to its roots and goal of building the high end visual effects tools it set out to deliver!

Cinefx is building on the new Openlibraries 5.0, the Cineplay Core and is using Jahplayer as its foundation moving ahead. combined these projects deliver a awesome technology base for Cinefx.,

Jahplayer was written in Qt and python so it’s very open and fully scriptable. It is also besed on a great MySql based media management system. Having this base in place will allow us to move ahead quite rapidly as we complete the visual effects, compositing and editing modules that will take us to the first V1 release of Cinefx.

Fortunately, we also have the advantage that the openlibraries which are now very mature and are being used by quite a few developers and projects. Since they are the core technology that Cinefx is being built upon, this allows our core technology to mature on its own as we build out the user interface thats needed for our tools.

We have set up a developer portal for developers who wish to help out with the actual coding of Cinefx. It hosts the project specifications, user interface guidelines, and the 300 year plan!

You can find the developer wiki at http://trac.cinefx.org

If you want to get involved in cinefx development and join the team, the please head over to the trac system and let us know! We are recruiting everything from developers to designers and people to help us nail down the feature-set and specification.

We are currently working feverishly on coding Cinefx 1.0, and we will release regular updates on how things are going and links to the specifications in the trac system so that our users can assist in the specifications, the plan and the look and feel of the final tools. We have a lot of great documentation in place, we just need to clean it up and opoen it up!

We thank you for your continued interest in the jahshaka project and look forward to delivering the worlds best, free, open source digital content creation suite with your help and assistance!

Thanks for everything!

OpenLibraries Reinvented

Posted by admin On February - 10 - 2009

As we get ready for the next evolution of the OpenLibraries, version 0.5, which will be powering the next generation of Jahshaka products moving ahead we invite you to visit its new Trac based community oriented website.

The new site, http://www.openlibraries.org, takes the OpenLibraries in a direction that it should have gone down a long time ago. As a open platform that combines both the development wiki, source code browsing and ticketing systems, the new site gives developers better visability into the openlibraries project, its development direction and its architecture.

The Jahshaka Projects upcoming 3.0 Jahplayer and Jahshaka products rely extensively on the OpenLibraries to power their media management, playback, and content creation pipelines. Having a open, shared system in place for Jahshaka developers will greatly accelerate the development of our products.

In a world where the importance of media is rapidly rising to the forefront of technolgy, the importance of hardware accelerated, cross platform toolkits becomes a critical factor in developing next generation applications. As development of the OpenLibraries moves ahead, the new site will help the community to get more involved in the Open source philosophy that it was created with.

Development Partners
The Openlibraries evolved out of the Jahshaka Project and is backed by two major development partners who are helping to accelerate the development of the OpenLibraries as a true, LGPL next generation toolkit. These are Silversoft Solutions and Audiotube.com

About the OpenLibraries
The Openlibraries are a powerful, cross-platform set of C++ libraries that provide developers with key components for the development of rich media applications. The Openlibraries are the first of its kind and represent a crucial step forward in the development of open source tools for creating digital content. Its library modules can be used to develop applications for such things as editing, compositing, media players, encoders and image processing.
